If the process of booking the Scheller College of Business’ study rooms have been easier recently, you might have members of the Library’s Service Delivery Team to thank.

In Fall 2024 Garth Milford and Sharetha Dantes, both of whom work for the Library providing service delivery, partnered with their colleagues in the Scheller College of Business to make the process of booking study rooms easier for students, faculty and staff.

“The expertise and the unwavering support from Garth and Sharetha have been instrumental in guiding this initiative to success,” said Will Tran, IT Support Professional in Scheller. “From project initiation through to its closure, their dedication ensured we had the tools, resources, and guidance needed to address any challenges.”

The work came out of the Library’s efforts throughout 2023 to simplify booking of the Library and Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons’ more than 200 separate study rooms – which see more than 41,000 bookings a year. In that process, said Milford and Dantes, the Library landed on a solution that could integrate with BuzzCards and existing room indicators for efficiency, visibility and ease of use.

Other units on campus took notice of the change, and soon Scheller asked for guidance in switching over their study room booking tool in a similar fashion.

“We set up tours, calls, lessons learned sessions and more to ensure the process went smoothly,” said Milford. For instance, Dantes delivered virtual training for all stakeholders and helped build the connections across campus to ensure success.

“Working with your team has been nothing short of phenomenal,” said Dr. Shannon Thomas, executive IT Director for Scheller. “They guided us meticulously — line by line, step by step — ensuring every aspect of the project was thoroughly addressed and brought to full and successful implementation.”

The Library’s College Administrative Officer, Sam Graham, said the project highlights the power of collaboration, demonstrating that the best outcomes are achieved through partnership.

“At the Library, we are committed to creating efficient solutions, and it’s rewarding to see this system’s benefits now reaching Scheller,” he said. “I encourage everyone to explore the system and experience its seamless integration, intuitive design, and easy user interface.”
