Code with Conscience: Intro to Python & Data Ethics

Join the Georgia Tech Library Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for Code with Conscience: Intro to Python & Data Ethics, a foundational workshop designed for Georgia Tech students interested in learning basic programming skills while critically examining how data-driven technologies affect society.
Participants will receive a hands-on introduction to Python including variables, data types, lists, and basic data analysis using Pandas and use real-world datasets to explore simple data visualizations. In addition to coding, the session introduces core data ethics concepts such as privacy, algorithmic bias, transparency, and responsible use of information. Students will learn how design and implementation choices can impact different communities. No prior programming experience is required. Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops, but there will also be computers in the room.
Prior to the workshop please set up a free account on Google Colab here: https://colab.research.google.com/
