Compensation: $23/hour

The Georgia Tech Library is seeking a motivated and tech-savvy graduate student to join our team as a Graduate Assistant for the Multimedia Recording Studios. This position will provide essential support to students, faculty, and staff using the video recording and audio recording rooms. The successful candidate will assist with equipment setup, troubleshooting, and user guidance, ensuring a seamless experience for all patrons. This position will work with students, staff, and faculty at Georgia Tech. This position reports to the Public Services Department.

Responsibilities

  1. Drop-in Support:
    • Greet and assist patrons using the multimedia recording studios on a drop-in basis for set hours each week (minimum 10 hours per week between 12pm-10pm with flexibility to establish depending on successful candidate).
    • Provide guidance on equipment usage, software applications, and best practices for recording.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues related to cameras, microphones, lighting, and recording studio software.
    • Provide guidance to undergraduate student workers, providing peer support during this time.
  2. Specialized Support:
    • Offer specialized assistance to users with specific multimedia projects (e.g., podcast recording, video presentations, music production) during specified drop-in hours.
    • Collaborate with Library users to optimize their recording workflows.
  3. Equipment Management:
    • Supervise and provide basic maintenance to multimedia equipment, including cameras, tripods, microphones, and lighting kits.
    • Assist with recording studio check-in and check-out procedures.
  4. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with library staff, faculty, and student workers to enhance the overall user experience.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing improvements.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program at Georgia Tech.
  • Experience (or a strong interest) in multimedia production, including video and audio recording.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Prior experience working in a recording studio or similar environment is a plus.
