Thomas Waters
Thomas Waters joined the Georgia Tech Library in March 2025. He holds a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Arts in History from Armstrong State University (now part of Georgia Southern).
As Library Systems Technologist, Thomas serves as administrator and primary technical lead for the Library Services Platform. He collaborates with the Head of Technical Services, the Web and Discovery Management Librarian, and the Library Information Technology team to lead and support projects that optimize existing system features and enhance system capabilities with new functionalities and integrations. He also serves on the expert team supporting the College of Computing.
Prior to his arrival at Georgia Tech, Thomas was Technical Services Librarian at Brenau University, where he managed library systems and e-resources, supported graduate research publishing, compiled collections and usage data for internal assessment and accreditation, and performed original cataloging of unique and rare materials.
Thomas’s current research interests include the intersections of library systems and traditional information technology. He has presented at the Georgia Libraries Conference on the benefits of IT certifications for library personnel.
