Emory Shared Collection: A resource sharing service offered to all eligible Georgia Tech patrons through remote requesting in the library catalog as well as an on-site (walk-up) service.

Eligibility: All currently enrolled students and currently employed faculty and staff in good standing at Georgia Tech Library are eligible to use Emory Resource Sharing.

Scope: Printed books (monographs) with the standard loan period

Exceptions include, but are not limited to:

  • Reserve materials
  • Reference materials or other materials that do not circulate without special permission
  • Materials housed in any special Collection
  • Bound Materials
  • Journal Articles
  • Other material that the Emory Library designates as not eligible (popular/leisure fiction, and/or audiovisual materials, etc.)

Physical Emory collections available to Georgia Tech:

  • Woodruff/Business – walk up and collections
  • Science Commons – walk up and collections
  • Music Media – walk-up and collections (books only – no media/equipment)
  • Health – walk-up and Library Service Center collections
  • Theology – walk-up and Library Service Center collections

Physical Emory collections NOT available to Georgia Tech:

  • Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives & Rare Book Library
  • Pitts Theology Library
  • Oxford College Library
  • Hugh F. MacMillan Law Library
  • Emory Hospital branches

Circulation Rules:

Loan Period: 120 day loan period for all patrons. Three renewals can be performed by patrons through their library account

Recall Fines: Recall fines for Emory materials will be $2.00 a day for each recalled item. Recall fines apply to all patrons.

Pickup locations:

  • Students - INFODesk
  • Faculty and Staff – delivery via Document Delivery (LENDS) to their office/department. 
  • Delivery to the LSC or Emory campus are options that are available as well

University System of Georgia (GIL Express)

 Search the University System of Georgia  

GIL Express:  a resource sharing service offered at all libraries of the University System of Georgia (USG).  This service provides access to all eligible circulating material at USG Libraries. GIL Express is available to all eligible Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff through remote requesting in the Georgia Tech catalog (Primo) as well as on-site (walk-up) service at any of the other 25 institutions in the USG.

Eligibility: All currently enrolled students and currently employed faculty and staff in good standing at Georgia Tech Library are eligible to use GIL Express.

Scope: Printed books (monographs) with the standard loan period.

Exceptions include, but are not limited to:

  • Reserve materials
  • Reference materials or other materials that do not circulate without special permission
  • Materials housed in any special Collection
  • Bound Materials
  • Journal Articles
  • Other material that the Owning Library designates as not eligible (popular/leisure fiction, and/or audiovisual materials, etc.)

Circulation Rules:

Loan Period: 28 day loan period for all patrons. Gil Express books are renewed automatically. You will receive an email notice shortly before the final due date.

Overdue Items: Since overdue fees are not charged, once a GIL Express book becomes overdue, your borrowing privileges are blocked.  You will not be able to check out GIL Express books until the overdue book has been returned. 

Recall Fines: If your book is recalled, you will need to return it by the new due date or risk recall-overdue fines. Each library can decide if it wants to charge recall fines. However, if recall fines are charged to GIL Express patrons, the fine is $2.50 a day for every day the book is late. Individual libraries have different policies about recalling materials.

Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education (ARCHE)

Several other metro Atlanta college libraries allow in-person borrowing of their materials to students, faculty, and staff. You must use an InterLibrary Use card, obtained at the INFOdesk.

This card works at:

  • Agnes Scott College
  • Atlanta University Center
  • Brenau University
  • Columbia Theological Seminary
  • Emory University (branch libraries)
  • Mercer University (Atlanta campus)
  • Morehouse School of Medicine
  • Oglethorpe University

Via InterLibrary Loan

Current students, faculty and staff must use Interlibrary Loan.

Use the service to obtain:

  • Photocopies and loans of books, theses, articles, conference papers, etc. from other libraries or commercial vendors.
  • Dissertations from other schools. Generally we try to obtain a loan of dissertations; however, we can purchase PDFs for a cost of $31. The library subsidizes $25; the patron pays $6. Please place a request via the "Thesis/Dissertation" form in your Interlibrary Loan account. Please check the ProQuest Thesis Database to verify that we don't already have access to it.
  • Audio-visual materials. We will do our best to borrow these for you, but many libraries will not lend them or will lend them with restrictions.

Please note:

  • Most loans and photocopies are free. However, you would be responsible for any charges in excess of $25 per item.
  • Delivery can range from a few days to several weeks, so allow enough time when requesting material. If you need something in a hurry, indicate a specific deadline. You would still be responsible for charges in excess of the $25 per item limit, even if the material is received after your deadline.
