Cosmic Missteps: Turning Research Failures into Art (Shocking Revelations: When Scientific Stories Change)
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Scholars Event Theater, Price Gilbert Library room 1280
You’re invited to join us for the next workshop in our Cosmic Missteps program series!
Shocking Revelations: When Scientific Stories Change explores how breakthroughs in science and art often begin with uncertainty. Astrophysicist Paul Sell shares two stories about the challenge of making sense of cosmic images - from a famous historical misinterpretation to his own work studying the enigmatic system Circinus X-1. Building on these insights, astro-artist Ash Wheeler guides participants in creating their own visual interpretations, using painting to explore how shifts in perspective can spark discovery. Designed especially for students but open to all, no art experience is required - just curiosity and a willingness to experiment with the beauty of failure.
