Showcasing work at the intersection of health, storytelling, and visual communication, the exhibit highlights graphic medicine, an emerging field that leverages visual storytelling to improve public health communication.
Specifically, medical professionals and public health organizations have increasingly adopted comics as a medium for sharing information, as research shows that patients and caregivers are more likely to engage with and retain information presented in a visual format.
Comics not only foster empathy but also help overcome language barriers, making them an effective tool in multilingual healthcare settings.
“Our team is dedicated to creating research-based comics and other visual projects that make medical information more accessible and engaging for diverse audiences,” said VIP team member Arian Taraporewalla. “Whether through narrative-driven comics, interactive displays, or digital applications, our goal is to make healthcare communication clearer, more inclusive, and more impactful.”
