Now available: Dimensions database, Altmetrics Explorer
The Georgia Tech Library is proud to announce Dimensions Database and Altmetrics Explorer are now available to campus thanks to a generous investment from the Chief Research Operating Officer (CROO).
Researchers have a suite of powerful new tools at their disposal, said Library Dean Dr. Leslie N. Sharp. Dimensions provides a holistic view of millions of publications, grants, citations, impact metrics, clinical trials, patents, and policy documents all in one place. Altmetircs Explorer looks beyond citation analysis by tracking online attention to published research in one, intuitive platform, she added.
“Faculty and staff can now also analyze research outcomes and gather insights on research funding and collaborations to inform future strategy,” said Sharp. “Then, they can easily track the online influence of that work in one place.”
A campus-wide training session is being set up for Spring, said Sharp. Additional information will be provided.
Dimensions Database
Dimensions, a Digital Science Solution, provides a suite of research applications and time-saving solutions that connect the dots across the research ecosystem for rapid insight.
It hosts the largest collection of interconnected global research data, including more than 70 percent of publications with full-text indexing. This data is then layered with easy-to-understand visualizations, purpose-built applications and integrated AI technology to speed up interpretation.
Dimensions covers publications, datasets, grants, patents, clinical trials, and policy documents. It provides both full-text and metadata searching to millions of documents and supports natural language searching, provides access to Library-licensed content, shows citations and references, and allows filtering by several dimensions including research organization, funder, and research category.
IP access is enabled, but for the full suite of site features please click the sign in button (top right) and use your GT account to sign in via GT SSO.
Altmetrics Explorer
The Institute also has access to Altmetrics Explorer, which meticulously and continuously scours the online world to establish the influence of research. It automates the process by tacking thousands of online mentions and collating them into one platform. It tracks policy documents, mainstream news outlets, social media, blogs, Wikipedia, online reference managers and more.
