The Long Now Lecture Series at retroTECH: Gods and Robots: Ancient Dreams of Technology
Come to the Library's third-floor Crosland Tower retroTECH lab Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a group viewing of one of the Long Now Foundation’s lecture series and enjoy the conversation it sparks.
This month's video is "Gods and Robots: Ancient Dreams of Technology." Folklorist and historian of ancient science Adrienne Mayor gave this talk in 2020, telling what she described as "the first science fiction stories."
retroTECH’s Long Now Lecture Series is part of our charge to create the future by exploring and preserving our technological pasts. Each month we’ll dip into the archive at longnow.org and find a talk that connects with retroTECH’s research concern -- how our lives shape technology, and are shaped by it, over time – and follow that with an open discussion guided by a Georgia Tech librarian, archivist, or faculty member.
