Library Student Ambassadors

The Library’s goal is to prioritize the health and safety of the Georgia Tech community by ensuring that everyone inside the buildings is following the University System of Georgia’s (USG) policy that requires all faculty, staff, students, and visitors to wear an appropriate face covering while inside campus facilities/buildings.

Buzz at Library

The Library has hired Student Ambassadors to assist with mask compliance inside Crosland Tower, Price Gilbert, and Clough Commons. These ambassadors are empowered to:

  • Welcome visitors at entrances and remind them that masks are required in all spaces inside the buildings;
  • Walk around the 3 buildings to collect data (via BuzzCards) of those who are not adhering to the mask compliance guidelines or occupancy limits;
  • Ask anyone to leave who refuses to wear a mask or provide a BuzzCard (they may also call a Library employee or security officer to have them removed);
  • Assist with Library services, events, and other activities.

We have developed an app to track non-compliant visitors. The process for enforcement is below. Please help us keep the students who use the buildings, as well as the employees who must work here safe. We are all in this together!

First Offense:

  • *BuzzCard information recorded
  • Asked to put on mask or clear a collaboration room that is over capacity
  • An email will be sent to reinforce policies and consequences

Second Offense:

  • *BuzzCard information recorded
  • Students will be reported to the Office of Student Integrity
  • Georgia Tech employees will be reported to GTHR
  • Contractors will be reported to the appropriate office

Third Offense:

  • *BuzzCard information recorded
  • Asked to leave Library
  • BuzzCard access to Library building and all collaboration rooms removed
  • Students will be reported to the Office of Student Integrity as second offense
  • Georgia Tech employees will be reported to GTHR as second offense
  • Contractors will be reported to the appropriate office as second offense

*BuzzCards are the property of the Georgia Institute of Technology and must be presented when requested per the Office of Student Integrity.

      The Library and Clough are here to serve all of the Georgia Tech community in the safest way possible. The Library Student Ambassadors and the rest of our employees are committed to following best practices for health and safety. Please do your part in helping us stay open by wearing your mask, washing your hands, maintaining appropriate distances, and abiding by all signage, policies, and procedures while in our buildings.
