What's changing?

The Library no longer automatically delivers physical books to faculty. Most items are picked up at the Price Gilbert Library, but there are still two alternatives when pickup isn’t possible.

Your options for RECEIVING library books

1 Pick up at the Library (default)

Most book requests are picked up in person at the Price Gilbert Library.

2 Proxy pickup

If you can’t pick up items yourself, you may authorize a student or colleague to pick up books on your behalf by setting up a proxy in your library account. Please complete the Docusign PowerForm Signer Information form.

3 Special delivery (by request)

In some cases, faculty may request delivery of library books. These requests are reviewed and approved by the Library Mailroom. Please complete the Special Delivery & Pickup form.

Submitting a request does not guarantee approval.

Your options for RETURNING library books

1 Return at the Library (default)

Returns can be brought back to the Price Gilbert Library desk during normal hours. In addition, book return bins are in available in Price Gilbert, Crosland Tower, and the Clough Undergraduate Learning Center.

2 Proxy return

If you can’t return items yourself, a proxy may return items on your behalf.

3 Office pickup for returns (by request)

In some cases, faculty may request office pickup for returns. These requests are reviewed and approved by the Library Mailroom. Please complete the Special Delivery & Pickup form.

Submitting a request does not guarantee approval.

When special delivery or office pickup may be approved

Requests are reviewed case by case.

Examples may include:

  • Long-term or short-term accommodations (e.g., illness, injury, mobility limitations)
  • Faculty locations far from the campus core
  • Large quantity of items (bulk delivery or returns)
  • Other logistical or operational considerations

The Library Mailroom makes all approval decisions based on need, capacity, and policy.
