Karen Viars is the Humanities & Science Fiction Librarian at the Georgia Institute of Technology Library, a position she has held since August 2016. She earned an M.S. in Information Sciences from the University of Tennessee, an M.S. in Instructional Technology from Georgia State University, and a B.A. with honors in English Literature from the University of Georgia. As the liaison to the School of Literature, Media and Communication, she supports research by faculty and students. She leads a team of librarians who provide information literacy instruction for the Institute’s English 1101 and 1102 classes. As a project manager, she oversees the space and services affiliated with the Library’s circulating science fiction collection.
